Everyone has a right to set rules in their home and protect it. You have very tastefully made a simple request that is just up my alley. I enjoy going without shoes indoors. There are many people that make this a rule, but you have done it the cleverest.

I always take my footwear off as soon as I step in the door and put slippers on or slipper sox sometimes. We have carpets everywhere except the utility room, kitchen and bathroom and I just abhor the thought of muck, dog waste, grit...well all outside debris being carried indoors onto my floors. I like to lie on my lounge room floor sometimes when relaxing and so I don't want ingrained dirt in it!
Friends cheese me off because I ALWAYS remove my shoes when entering their home and they NEVER show me the same respect. I have asked on the odd occasion but I always land up getting being called 'fussy' or 'particular' or similar terms.
I find it difficult to ask work men who need to come in from time to time to remove their footwear as if they are in and out they can't keep stopping put footwear on and off.
I like the idea of your signs but where to hang it? Around my neck when opening the door? On the outside of my front door? Anywhere else and it just wouldn't be seen.
